Venice’s most famous monument, the Rialto Bridge, was constructed in 1591 to a design by Antonio da Ponte, in a single depressed-arch span of twenty-seven meters and a width of twenty-two meters. The width is divided into three ramps by two rows of shops, linked between them in the center by two large arches; the shops are entered from the central ramp. The restoration work regards the parapets, formed by balustrades in Istrian stone, and the walkway (steps and landings), consisting of sandstone slabs.
Il più famoso monumento di Venezia, il ponte di Rialto, è stato realizzato nel 1591 su progetto di Antonio da Ponte, in una unica campata ad arco ribassato di ventisette metri di luce e una larghezza di ventidue metri. E’ diviso in tre rampe da due file di negozi unite alla sommità da due arcate; i negozi hanno accesso dalla rampa centrale. Le parti interessate dall’intervento di restauro saranno i parapetti, formati da balaustre in pietra d’Istria e il piano viabile (gradini e pianerottoli) costituito da lastre di pietra arenaria.
